2 Reasons Why Facemasks Are Not Going Away Anytime Soon

During the lockdown, everybody was rejoicing how the air quality had increased by many folds. People were enjoying looking at clear skies from their balconies. As we enter unlock 2.0, you will begin to see how all of it is going to get back to normal, maybe even worse.

Don't believe us? Here is a fact for you: A study by The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) found that air pollution fell drastically by 79% during the lockdown phase. The Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped as low as 37 compared to the current numbers that range from 150-200.

Between all this pollution and the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing has become evident; Masks are going to be a part of our daily lives, and there is no respite from them. If we want to lead a healthy lifestyle, masks are going to be mandatory. Let us understand how critical face masks are for your well being:

1. Protection From Airborne Diseases

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial to understand that this is not the first viral outbreak, and it is not going to be the last. Airborne diseases have always plagued humans. Anything from a pure strain of common cold or the coronavirus can be transferred through airborne germs. Now in a world like this, would you like to let go of your mask or stay protected at all times?

2. Protection From Pollutants

PM 2.5 that is believed to be the most harmful pollutant can enter your lungs and bloodstream, and it can possibly cripple you forever. The increase in pollution has also been linked to diseases like Asthma, Lung Cancer and the likes. We're already living in conditions where the air quality of our cities is believed to be extremely unhealthy. But, what about five years down the line? Would you like to be the person who coughs all day long or the person who uses a facemask?

The future holds a lot in store for us, but we don't see the importance of a face mask diminishing anytime soon. Some people might like to call it a dependency, but we want to believe that it is a choice we are making, a choice for our healthy life, a choice for a bright future.

Be wise, wear a mask!
